KNA
- Catholic News Agency |
Introducing KNA
Since its foundation in 1952, the KNA catholic news
agency has been an important member of the German-speaking
media community. Today, we are the largest and most
productive catholic news agency in Europe. We provide
up-to-date and competent reports in all journalistic
styles on catholic and secular themes both at home
and abroad. Each year we distribute over 20,000 texts.
Our customer base has grown to more than 60% of the
daily press, the whole of the diocesan and catholic
press, numerous magazines, radio and television providers.
These customers can receive our up-to-date texts
as hard copy, via modern media such as satellite,
by e-mail or in PDF format.
KNA and its topics
Our aim is objective, factual, journalistically-independent
reporting from a Christian perspective. At the interface
between the church and the world, we report what
is happening in the church, the thoughts of the church
and the achievements of the church. We do this, on
the one hand, by providing comprehensive coverage
of catholic and church events. On the other hand,
we provide information relating to the broad field
of domestic and foreign social politics. We cover
topics such as education, human rights, minorities
and development aid as well as social and family
politics, biomedical sciences and genetic engineering.
KNA in facts and figures
Our headquarters are in Bonn. This is also the home
of our central editorial department. We operate four
correspondent offices and a capital office in Berlin,
as well as a state editorial office in Bavaria and
three further regional sub-offices. The whole of
the German-speaking area is covered by our partnership
with kathpress (Austria) and KIPA (Switzerland).
We are also represented in Rome, Brussels and Jerusalem.
Both our information and customer networks are continually
expanding. Our 80 salaried employees and some 350
freelancers around the globe enable us to provide
a 24-hour professional reporting service. We generate
more than 20,000 texts and 200 radio reports every
year.
